BEACHES & WATERPARKS

1Though many are delighted to have chosen Pissouri as their base for the Cyprus holiday, they may sometimes use their hire-car to explore the other beaches. Pissouri beach was awarded the European ‘Blue Flag’ for safety, yet it is not everyones choice. The shore is mainly shingle, but once in the water the underfoot is of beautiful sand, and the water is clear. There is a wide range of seasports , and of-course loads of sunbeds and umbrellas.

Melanda beach, and Avdhimou beach are only a short drive from Pissouri. (10mins.) Both are very popular with families, the water is clear and shallow, and Mum and Dad can sit in the beach-side restaurants drinking

Keo beers or Brandy Sours and watch the youngsters from a shouting distance Curium beach (sandy) (about 15mins.) on the old road to Limassol is also a great favourite. Plenty castle-building sand, plenty tavernas, and nice shallow water. Watch for the strong surf at times though. At Aphrodites Rock (6mins) the sea is very inviting, but not for the kids or indeed any weaker type swimmer.

Many people pay a visit to Coral Bay About 30mins.) where there is a real golden sand beach and lovely clear seas. Very popular with the scuba fanatics.

There are many more beaches in Paphos or further on at Latchi. Alternatively the tourist may fancy Lady’s Mile or other beaches in Limassol? Maybe combining a visit to the town and the shops
